Kawartha Komets Hit the Ice

The Kawartha Komets held their first practice on Saturday, October 17th at the Kinsmen Arena. Team # 1 worked out at 11:00 a.m. and Team # 2 took to the ice at 12 noon. We had an excellent turnout with over 20 players in attendance.

We had a great group of on and off ice volunteers who helped to make our 1st day together a resounding success.

We will be posted pictures here on the Komets' blog but we wanted to get at least one photo on here immediately. Here's a photo of Team # 2 with many of the coaches and volunteers in the background.

Thanks to everyone to worked so hard to make this day "a dream come true"! Those who made significant contributions to the success of our "launch" were:
Tyrone Kellar
Andrew Miller
Bob Prole
Preston Stringer
Chris Power
Jeffrey Reid
Sean Quinlan
Richelle Coppaway
Pete Dalliday
Andy Stabler
John Helmond
Jim Glynn
Our first game is next Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Kinsmen Arena against the Don Mills Diamonds.

1st Komets Practice

The Kawartha Komets will hit the ice at our first practice on Saturday, October 17th at the Kinsmen Arena on Sherbrooke Street and Clonsilla Avenue in Peterborough.

All registered players will be divided into two teams, Team 1 & Team 2. Initially players will be teamed depending on age and size but as we determine the ability levels of our players we will adjust the teams accordingly.

As this is our Inaugural Season we will be making adjustments as we move ahead.

Equipment Checklist

You may have read in some printed material that neckguards are optional. All Komets players must wear neckguards and a helmet with a wire cage.

This picture, courtesy of National Sports, shows the equipment needed for safety in hockey. Please click on the image, EQUIPMENT CHECKLIST, for a larger, clearer picture.

Komets' Klassy Krest

Many thanks to Candice Lewis for designing our Kawartha Komets logo. We think she did an incredible job.

Pete Dalliday, one of the movers and shakers (and a Board member) behind our Kawartha Komets, put us in touch with Candice, a friend of his.

We think our jerseys will have a distinctive look with this classy logo on the front.

Don't you agree?
